Occupational lenses and office lenses

Occupational lenses are designed for precise near and intermediate vision. Occupational lenses and office lenses support smooth work and reduce eyestrain indoors. When it’s time for new glasses, start by booking an eye examination with an optician.

Occupational lenses and office lenses

In addition to high-quality single vision lenses in Silmäasema’s selection of near-vision lenses, you’ll find HOYA’s occupational lenses and office lenses. These lenses provide clear vision, both up close and at intermediate distances.

They are precision-ground with two seamlessly merging vision zones: one for near and one for intermediate distances.

Occupational lenses provide comfortable vision from about 30 centimetres to about four metres. Their maximum viewing distance varies depending on the type of lens.

Office lenses are designed for viewing at greater distances than occupational lenses.

Who are occupational lenses suitable for?

Occupational lenses and office lenses can be tailored to an exact working distance and your individual visual needs.

The goal of occupational lenses is to reduce eyestrain during tasks and hobbies that require precise near vision. They are used for both work and leisure as computer glasses or screen glasses, as well as for reading, handicrafts, art and DIY, and in meetings and customer service situations.

Occupational lenses and office lenses also improve work ergonomics.

When are occupational lenses necessary?

Depending on the lens type and strength, the area of sharpest vision is typically at arm’s length. This makes occupational lenses an ergonomic choice for screen work.

They are also ideal for work tasks that alternate between near and intermediate viewing distances. These include beauty care services, customer service and teaching tasks, and many healthcare tasks. Depending on how far you need to see, our experts will recommend the type of lens that suits you.

Occupational lenses are also a more flexible alternative to reading glasses. The lower part of the lens is designed for reading and the upper part provides clear vision at intermediate distances.

When are office lenses necessary?

Office lenses are progressive lenses designed for indoor use, with two viewing areas in the lens. They are well suited for computer glasses and other situations where you need to see clearly both up close and a few metres away, such as when working with a computer screen and a whiteboard, or using a tablet and watching TV at home.

Office lenses are suitable for screen glasses, hobby glasses and general glasses when moving around indoors. However, they cannot be used while driving.

Office lenses for computer and screen work

Specialised occupational glasses are screen glasses paid for by your employer, which differ from your regular glasses in lens strength, type or fitting height.

They cannot be your only glasses, and your own everyday glasses must be up to date in prescription and condition.

Your employer always determines the provision of specialised occupational glasses in cooperation with occupational healthcare.

Silmäasema works with several occupational healthcare providers, and our workplace vision services for businesses help corporate customers improve workstation vision ergonomics and provide occupational glasses.
