Silmäasema stores and eye hospitals have very thorough work routines and hygiene instructions in place. During the epidemic we are paying particular attention to the wellbeing of our staff and customers, the disinfection of surfaces and the cleaning of all our premises.
At the moment, there are no restrictions in terms of the age of the customer or importance of the matter.
If you are well and not quarantined or under similar restrictions of movement, and you have not returned from abroad in the last 14 days, you don’t need to cancel your appointment. If any of the above applies to you, you should move your appointment to a later date according to the recommended quarantine period. For details, please see the next questions.

You can come to an appointment if you’ve been back in Finland more than 14 days and you are well.
In accordance with the instructions of the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare (THL), it is possible for you to reduce the waiting period with coronavirus tests. You are also welcome to visit us if, based on THL’s instructions, you are exempted from the testing recommendation related to entering the country. In our operations, we follow THL’s instructions, which may be updated quickly. Up-to-date instructions are available on the THL website.
If someone in your household has a diagnosed coronavirus infection, you should also stay in self-isolation for at least 14 days.
We have updated comprehensive instructions to our staff for preventing infections. We monitor bulletins from the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) every day.
Our stores and hospitals do not serve customers who have flu symptoms or who have recently returned from abroad. Our staff stay home with the slightest cold symptoms and do not come to work if they are ill or have recently returned from abroad.
We pay particular attention to a high level of hygiene and keep our receptions and stores as uncrowded as possible. If necessary, patients will be directed to wait for their turn outside the store or hospital. Surfaces, such as computer keyboards, phones and door handles are disinfected several times every day. We also instruct our customers to disinfect their hands before trying on frames.
Doctors clean their work tools and workstations after each appointment.
Any staff member who has returned from abroad without symptoms will spend 14 days in self-isolation at home. Our staff do not come to work if they are ill or have cold symptoms.
No, you don’t. If an appointment is cancelled on the same day due to illness, cold, or current national recommendations, you will not have to pay anything.
So far eyeglasses are picked up at the Silmäasema shop as usual. We currently operate with a reduced store network. Please check the opening hours here. Please also note that if you have flu symptoms, your visit should be moved to a later date. If the none of the stores near you are open, you are ill or you belong to a risk group, we can send the glasses to you by post.
